Society for Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) inaugural meeting hosted by Peter Gardner in Manchester was held in the Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre in May 2011.
 
 
Paul Bassan wins the prestigious 2011 Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Ronald Belcher award for Analytical Chemistry.
 
 
Paul Bassan wins the 2011 Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) student of the year distinguished achievement award.
 
 
Manchester was the host city for the international Spec2010 conference.
